In the first paragraph of the Description of the Prior Art an inventor needs to write about the kind of individuals or animals that would benefit by using your invention, and what they might be going through in life that could require them to use your product invention. So for example I will break this first paragraph up in several segments for illustration purposes.
Many persons and families that need electrical energy to survive every day are enduring hardships by needing electrical energy that is continuing to rise and or fluxuate in price each day, and are effectively held captive by the local electrical power generating plants inasmuch that by lack of payment for the electrical service to the supplying company will result in disconnect until the payment is made up to date or close to that.
NOTE : This is an example of a simple first half of the first paragraph of the Description of the Prior Art.
Some of these people and families depend on the electricity for storing and preserving food for themselves and many may be enduring hard financial times from unemployment or sporadic work. In todays failing economic structures worldwide and companies going out of business daily due to huge infrastructures that cannot be supported at present within the world events of today, these people may be in grave danger if they cannot afford to preserve their food or if electricity becomes generally unavailable in their area from uncontrollable failures of the electrical power transmission companies.
NOTE : This concludes the second half of the first paragraph.
Paragraph two will simply recite and tell a short story on what could possibly happen or what could be potentially a hardship situation for either a person or animal as written in paragraph one.
Without an alternative solution for the electrical flow failures and or disconnected service for failure to pay the electricity transmission companies, these people will move further into poverty and conviene into groups wordwide for survival purposes which will further develop into more degrading situations realized as a person is attempting to survive the elements.
Paragraph three includes a reiterated statement regarding these people or animals that need or will benefit from, and or by using the invention, and that the divices out there and the availability to others for usage isn't satisfying a need or a shortcoming that your invention is intended to provide.
Due to the growing numbers of individuals losing their jobs today as buisnesses close worldwide, and others fortunate enough to have work and an income but forced to pay a large amount of their income out to electrical energy that they consume, are all enduring the hardships of today in the scope of high energy costs. These rising costs associated with electrical energy transmission and the lack of availability of fuels used to power electrical generating plants, has resulted in an awareness of people that self sufficiency and survival for themselves and family, may be the next step required for thier own survival in the near future, including producing their own electrical power demands. This awareness and situation is compelling the designs of new and improved human powered electrical generators by many companies and individuals at present day, that will fill in the void of available products within the scope of prior art within this field.
To complete the second part of paragraph three, we need to do a search for some of the current available art available to purchase, that falls within the human powered electrical generator field. We need to also recite how our invention could help out, but not explain it in detail, just a generic form of how your invention could assist the people that could use your invention.
Search Results : http://scienceshareware.com/bgsp.htm , shows simply a pedal flywheel assemble you sit down and pedal, a flywheel rotates and it appears to be no more than one foot in diameter, and attached to a 24vdc permanent magnet generator. You set down in a chair and pedal, no real claims, not available as a product, 200watts claimed=peanuts. It claims you can charge a car battery in 10 to 20 hours.
After searching many more web pages and patents and such shows clearly that this art is realtively open territory for new and usefull human energy to electical power devices. In the old days and I mean back to mid 1700's this was a really popular field when they used animals and equipment that required hand power from a human. Then as the search went on the information gathered showed that as soon as electricity became available from Westinghouse the wave of equipment that was used originally as hand powered devices were all re engineered to devices and machines that were driven by rotating wheels and shafts but powered by an electric motor which received the electricity required to power it from the input rotation of an internal combustion engine or boiler system all methods requiring the burning of fuel. It became very easy to extract oil from the earth when the oil days began. The oil would literally shoot up out of the ground due to gas pressure behind the oil and then a pumping system was installed to pump the rest of the oil from the earth. As time passes the oil level in the particular area you are pumping it out of gets lower and then your pumps have to work harder. This increases the costs of pumping the oil in power and also in maintenance costs to operate. Today we are at several points to note, (1) oil is considered hazardous waste today but a hundred years ago it was considered black gold, (2) the price we will be paying for the oil will soon be to much and more than we can afford, when we started pumping it out of the ground in the beginning of the oil era it was literally free for the taking of it, (3) electrical power generating plants need large volumes of fuel and in direct porportion to the output in watts, (4) in addition the distance of transmission of the electrical power and the numbers of people needing the electrical power dictate costs that are added to the cost of the "non delivered" watt.
One of the big reasons nothing has really been done regarding this energy generation field will be included in text to describe the present state of the art. Why has this art form not been developed, it's shortcomings of the prior art and present state of the art will also be added into this second half of the third paragraph.
2nd half of paragraph three :
This has resulted in various attempts from these individuals and small companies to design equipment that has the capability of generating electricity by the usage of human input energy. The equipment and machinery designed and currently available all fall short of producing any substantial electrical power and are novel at best, and mostly appear in the form of instructional material of how to build your own bicycle generator, or simply in standalone form. Such devices are commonly capable of charging a car battery within 10 to 20 hours, some produce enough electricity to operate a washing machine for 20 minutes or a computer for a little while, but all fail to supply sufficient electrical power to operate the common household items. These past designs of prior art using human power to convert to electrical power fall short in supplying a system that could allow an individual to operate as an electrical power plant with storage capabilities. Prior art in machine form is not readily available to the consumer in product form. The ability for a human powered electrical power generator to produce sufficient electricity that would allow these people to survive and preserve their food in times of need would be a great help to those people in need, and also be an asset to the individual that has lost his or her job and simply moves their weight from side to side to produce useable electricity for someone else to use, and in return for the electrical energy, provide some food or money to the individual(s) powering the human powered electricy generator.
fourth paragraph :
In the text of the final paragraph we will get to now recite again what our invention should do to take care of the deficiencies of the prior art and what the human powered electrical generators in the new art forms should have, in order that they can overcome the prior arts deficiencies and or provide a way to overcome what the prior art has failed to provide in features.
Human Powered Generators must be capable of producing and storing sufficient electrical energy that will allow an entire household to survive it's own electrical demands for one 24 hour period in time. Furthermore these generators must also produce the electrical power required to operate the household from human exersion at a comfortable level, to the individual powering the generator. The movement of the individual instead of the power from the individual will allow the individual powering the generator more endurance. All currently available human powered elecrical generators have designes and constructions which fail to utilyze the weight of the human powering the generator and the amplyfication of it to enhance long term usage and a torque advantage to the human powering the generator, and subsequently fall short in the amount of electrical energy generated and or stored, and do not include in their designs and construction the rotating weight necessary to store mechanical energy sufficient to produce useable electricity for any extended period of time.
2. Description of the Prior Art

Consequently, a need exists for improvements in the design and construction of a Human Powered Electrical Power Generating and Storage System so that the human can sustain long periods of time powering the device without over extending thier own physical limits and moreover a constant motion exercise increasing the operators endurance and muscular range of motion ability, within a short period of time, and providing substantially more current in electrical output.
